Brett always does a wonderful job reviewing books, and this one is no different. This 1863 end-of-year campaign didn't trigger the massive battle that was always just....beyond reach, but it is fascinating because it is the only time General Meade was in full command of the Army of the Potomac and had the opportunity to craft his own strategy and handle the army his way.
